Quilter’s Corner is Central Virginia’s destination quilt shop, offering a wide selection of high-quality fabrics, notions, sewing and embroidery machines, and longarm quilting services. We are passionate about helping customers bring their creative projects to life. In addition to our retail space and classes, we provide expert sewing machine repair and maintenance as an Authorized Service Center for Brother, Baby Lock, and Juki machines.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Sewing Machine Repair Technician to join our team. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of sewing, embroidery, serger, and longarm machines. The ideal candidate has experience with small mechanical or electronic repair, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to explain technical issues to customers in a friendly, approachable way.
Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain sewing machines, embroidery machines, sergers, and longarm machines (Brother, Baby Lock, Juki, INNOVA, and others).

Perform routine maintenance, cleanings, tune-ups, and adjustments.

Document repair notes, parts used, and services performed in shop records.

Communicate clearly with customers about machine issues, repair options, and proper care.

Stay current on manufacturer training, service manuals, and technical updates.

Maintain a clean and organized repair workspace.

Order and track parts and supplies as needed.

Assist with machine setup, demonstrations, and customer questions on the sales floor when required.

Provide outstanding customer service that reflects the friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy reputation of Quilter’s Corner.
Qualifications

Mechanical or technical repair experience required; sewing machine repair experience preferred (training available for the right candidate).

Comfort working with small parts, electronics, and precision adjustments.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to explain technical concepts in simple, clear language.

Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.

Customer service experience in a retail or service setting a plus.

Willingness to complete manufacturer training and certifications (shop provided).

Ability to lift and move machines weighing up to 50 lbs.
