T-Shirt Quilt
Gather those t-shirts and use them to make a lap/twin size quilt! Learn how to stabilize those stretchy knits and explore interesting settings. This is a 2-part class: Session 1 is all about preparing shirts for a quilt (cutting graphic elements and stabilizing them), and planning your layout. In Session 2 you'll trim the t-shirt blocks, finalize the layout, and begin sewing the quilt.
Supplies Session One: Bring the following to class or purchase at Quilter’s Corner with your class discount of 10%
· Book: T-Shirt Quilts Made Easy by Martha DeLeonardis (available at QC)
· 12 or so clean t-shirts
· Large square rotary ruler (12-1/2” square or larger)
· 3-6 yards Pellon Shape-Flex SF101 fusible interfacing
· Fat quarter sized piece of white or natural muslin
· Spray bottle of water
· Goddess pressing sheet
· Graph paper and pencil
· Rotary cutter
Optional: Small iron, ironing surface, cutting mat, scissors
Supplies Session Two:
· Sewing machine in good working order
· The prepped t-shirts from Session 1
· Rotary cutter
· Large Square ruler (12-1/2” square or larger)
· 24-1/2” Quilting ruler
· Fabric yardage for “Safari Sashed” or Split Formation” t-shirt quilt to coordinate or complement your t-shirt elements.
· Basic sewing supplies: 50 wt thread, pins, snips, bobbins, seam ripper, etc.
Optional: cutting mat
Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for set-up.
