Cathedral Window

The “Cathedral Window” quilt is a classic, which traditionally required hand sewing. Learn how to make this beautiful pattern with all sewing done on your machine. Choose either the 13” pillow or the patriotic flag to learn this fun technique.

Supplies: Bring the following to class or purchase at Quilter’s Corner with your class discount of 10%

•       Pattern: “Cathedral Windows Quilt & Pillow” OR “Cathedral Window Flag”, both by Shabby Fabrics 
•       Sewing Machine (in good working order) with ¼” foot and standard foot (J foot on the Brother machines)
•       Sewing Machine Needles: Microtex 80/12 or Quilting 75/11   
•       50 wt cotton thread 
•       Pins
•       Seam Ripper
•       Fabric turning tool (ball point bodkin, Clover point turner, or Purple Thang)
•       Stiletto
•       Roxanne’s Glue Baste
•       Fabric:per the pattern. In class we will work on the pillow top, or the blue field in the flag quilt.

Preparation for Class:

Please arrive 15 minutes early to set up your workspace.

Be sure to have your fabrics cut and ready to sew.

Pillow: (9) 10” background squares

             (12) 2-1/2” squares for windows

             (12) 2-1/2” squares for windows, cut once on the diagonal

Flag: (20) 10” background squares

         (31) 2-1/2” white squares for windows
